Benchtop R&D System

Benchtop Robot Systems for Automated Ultrasonic Spray Coating

Precision Spray Placement on a Benchtop Platform

Benchtop Cartesian robots, in four work-area sizes, are designed to ensure precision-controlled spray placement and thin-film uniformity. When configured with a MicroSpray ultrasonic nozzle, syringe pump, and valve system, a high level of accuracy and repeatability is achieved.

Built specifically for fluid dispensing processes, the robot software is user friendly and enables the creation of complex dispensing routines — dots, lines, circles, arcs, and fills — that can be set up and operational in minutes using the included teach pendant.

The programming software allows DXF files to be imported, with dispense lines or dots created directly from the imported CAD data. This dramatically reduces programming time for complex dispense patterns or when there is a high number of dispense positions.

Key Capabilities

DXF / CAD import

Import DXF files directly and generate dispense paths from CAD geometry. Eliminates manual point entry on complex patterns.

±0.008 mm repeatability

3-phase micro stepping motors with PTP and CP motion control deliver consistent placement pass after pass.

Teach pendant programming

Dots, lines, circles, arcs, and fills set up and running in minutes — no programming background required.

Zero-air atomization

Paired with a MicroSpray ultrasonic nozzle, coating is applied at ~1 m/s with no compressed air and no lower flow limit.

50,000 points per program

Store up to 100 programs with 50,000 points each. Switch between recipes without reprogramming.

Integration-ready I/O

8 inputs / 8 outputs plus USB and RS232. Coordinates directly with the MicroSpray broadband driver trigger and alarm lines.

Specifications

Four work-area configurations are available. All share the same control system, drive system, and software.

Specifications and approvals are as published by the robot's manufacturer. Repeatability is stated per axis under rated load. Actual coating uniformity also depends on nozzle frequency, standoff distance, traverse speed, and pass count — see how ultrasonic nozzles work for the process variables that matter.

Configuring a Complete Coating System

The robot is the motion platform. A working coating system adds three further components, all supplied and matched by MicroSpray:

Ultrasonic nozzle

48, 60, or 120 kHz depending on the droplet size your process requires. Frequency sets droplet size; it is independent of flow rate and pressure. See the nozzle range.

Broadband ultrasonic driver

25–120 kHz tracking range, with external trigger and alarm I/O that wires directly to the robot's 8-input / 8-output interface. See the driver.

Liquid delivery

Syringe pump or ceramic piston metering pump for µL-level dosing, or continuous feed for production runs. See liquid delivery.

Because each element is specified independently, the system can be matched to your fluid, substrate, target thickness, and throughput rather than bought as a fixed configuration.

Specify a system for your application

Selecting the correct frequency, nozzle configuration, and liquid-delivery method is a conversation, not a catalog lookup. Complimentary initial testing of your coating chemistry is available where appropriate.
